FIRST, MR. ALAN GREENSPAN – IS IT TOO LITTLE TOO LATE?

* Note, this blog is a reaction to Greenspan publicly stating on 08/01/10 that “extending” the so-called “Bush Tax Cuts” (Tax Cuts for the “hounds of hell”) past 2010 was not wise, and further, history had shown that these tax cuts DO NOT pay for themselves.

I could have told you that definitively in 1981.  That is a fact.  I have a Masters Degree in Economics (not much to brag about I assure you) and even as a then novice, this was (a Laffer) preposterous as a real-life scenario.  There are theoretical examples under narrow circumstances where this is a truism, but it is NOT, nor has it EVER been, a truism for our general economy.  If you, Milton Friedman, David Stockman, and all the people you surrounded yourself with did not know this at that time then you were either STUPID, or you were participating in the BIG LIE.  I suspect the latter is true, but am I really expected to believe that the kool-aid was THAT strong?

 

George Herbert Walker Bush, in perhaps the only time he ever stumbled upon a publicly declared truth, declared Ronald Reagan's "economic proposals":  "VOODOO ECONOMICS".  The truth had been uttered by a member of the BUSH family, IN PUBLIC.  Catch that on tape, it perhaps was not to happen again.

 

Reagan delivered on his promise.  Yes, Tax Cuts for the well-to-do (the “hounds-of-hell”).  Boy, were we excited?  All the boats were going to rise.  Problem was, as it turned out, "TRICKLE DOWN" was really the beginning of "SUCK DRY".  Perhaps not the same terminology I would have used, but Alan, it is exactly what I and thousands of other right-minded economists (or smart non-lying people) would have told you in 1980.  But, we didn't really need to tell you that truth Alan?  Because Alan, you KNEW the TRUTH?

Bush-I Notes: With lingering traces of Barry Goldwater’s CONSERVATIVE words whispering in the furthest recesses of his mind(?), Bush-I realized that he had to react in a principled/prudent way to the exploding deficit, so he invoked a tiny tax hike on the “hounds of hell”.  The problem is that even though this may have been a glance toward sanity, we were in the depths of insanity at this point, (a fact ALAN GREENSPAN KNEW) and this was no true medicine. 

 

However, once granted a yard of red blood, the “hounds of hell” were not wont to have even a centimeter of bloody thread fray away.  So even though he had furthered their Class-Warfare goals (whisper trickle-down) he had violated the canons of the church of GREED and he was to be expelled for it.  As long as the proletariat is groveling, squabbling, tired, or otherwise distracted, the “hounds of hell” are not tolerant of meddlesome fools.  Especially meddlesome fools that they feel exist only to service THEIR needs.  This is a short-term game we play her fella.

 

Bush-I was on a hell of a roll, and he had only managed this disaster in four years time.  But, give Bush-I some sympathy.  RR had given him a gigantic push down the hill to HELL.  And ALAN GREENSPAN KNEW it.

Clinton outmaneuvers Gingrich & gets a small tax increase passed for the “hounds of hell” passed in 1994.  Trend Begins: Have a look!

 

Beginning in 1998, those numbers become positive.  Some never thought it was going to happen, but it was happening.  These were surpluses.  These were the "gogo" nineties, and, despite the Bill Clinton tax increase that the “hounds from hell” SWORE WOULD BRING THE APOCALYPSE, no rich person was missing a mansion, a tea time, a luxury car, a yacht, or...  And this is just with a minor tax increase.

 

We could have obliterated fiscal danger for the foreseeable future with more bold moves and a greater awareness of the looming Wall Street malfeasance at this point, but the opportunity is passed on.  The BIG LIE was being shown for what it was, a LIE.  And guess what?  ALAN GREENSPAN KNEW all of this.

 

Clinton hands W a number that the liars on the right had to vainly claim was because of RR.  But Alan Greenspan KNOWS that is not true.  Alan Greenspan has his hands lightly holding the reins of economic policy in his hands and he KNOWS the TRUTH.  Here W (the Nation) is granted the gift of a 236.2 Billion Dollar Surplus.  Surpluses projected as far as the eye could see.  W is granted surpluses that will take care of our grandchildren and our grandchildren's grandchildren.  This country had survived the mockery of its better interests, as Republicans tried to reengage a Class-Warfare struggle (couched in shades of fake morality), and was poised for a reintroduction of the economic dynasty that had created modern prosperity for 30+ years following WWII.

W takes office in a bloodless, Activist Federal Court invoked coup d’état, with a blue dress lying on the ground, and the “hounds of hell” are unleashed. 

 

Remind yourself that W's inherited “permanent” surplus, that '+' sign lasts ONE YEAR!  I may need to repeat that: 1 FUCKING YEAR.

 

The “hounds-of-hell” (W as proxy) want their Class/God given tax breaks, and they want them yesterday.  They are introduced as law in 2001 despite the fact that they are an historically proven fiscal disaster and despite the fact that ALAN GREENSPAN KNOWS they are wrong.

 

Bush sits frozen in fear for 7 minutes on 09/11/2001.  Andy Card is imploring him to at least APPEAR Presidential.  W is not up to the task.  He is whisked away and hidden for several days while the “hounds of hell” devise a marketing strategery.

 

“Wars on Terror” never end.  They are the gifts that never stop giving.  If you are a “hound from hell”, you have the world at your beck and call.  You can ask for anything, even if ALAN GREENSPAN KNOWS its wrong.

 

W tells us "Wars on Terror" are different.  You can't keep them track of them in your regular budget.  Somehow that is unpatriotic.  In fact, almost anything anyone does or says that does not go along with the White House is considered unpatriotic.  Remember, it was White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer, warning Americans on Sep 26, 2001 to "watch what they say, watch what they do."  Representative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota on 10/18/2008 says, “that the news media should do a penetrating expose and take a look. I wish they would. I wish the American media would take a great look at the views of the people in Congress and find out, are they pro-America or anti-America? I think people would love to see an expose like that.”  PATRIOTISM!

ALAN GREENSPAN KNEW that this horrifying deficit was dependent upon those Tax Cuts.  He KNEW that having those Tax Cuts was WRONG.  He knew that the actual deficit was vastly and purposely unreported.  You must remember, we were told; the trillions patriotically spent prosecuting the “War on Terror” unselfishly on our behalf must be “tracked” fiscally, “off-book”.

At this stage Barak becomes the President and he initiates the termination of keeping a double set of books.  In other words, the trillions in allocations for the "War on Terror" are no longer to be kept in the mythical place known as "off-book" land.  They must come home to roost on the real ledger sheet and display their hideousness for any that dare to gaze upon them.  This, however, is no time for economic/deficit self-assessment by the rebranded “hounds of hell”.  They may still dash off the moniker Republican, but they are now: "Re Pug Thug Tea Lycans".  No, to them (those that seek victory in Class-Warfare, not in the health of our Nation), this is an opportunity to distract and point fingers at the man, (the BLACK MAN) whose deficit figures are worse than theirs.

 

If these figures don't shake you, then…?  If 2+2 does not equal 4 to you, then…?  If you believe that Barak was born n Kenya or take political gain knowing that others do, then you are is NOT a PATRIOT.  What you are is a different form of terrorist.  A "Re Pug Thug Tea Lycan” is just another bullying terrorist.  I'll take Osama any day.  You knew where he stood.  These terrorists don't just believe the BIG LIE, they are the BIG LIE.  So, don't dislodge that Flag Pin while you’re getting all misty during your recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance "Re Pug Thug Tea Lycans".  Don’t bother; we are on to your act.

 

Seek the teachings and sentiment of the Golden Rule.  Perhaps salvation is available to a “hound of hell” that reaches for it.  One can only hope.

 

 

So Alan, what to do with you?  You come on “Meet the Press” and make these measured statements.  You are seeking the mantle of respectability publicly, but I sense inside that you are seeking redemption from your sin. Well, that is a narrow fence to walk Mr. Greenspan, and I don’t care to offer you unchallenged the public forum you have taken to reestablish your genuineness and your bona fides.  You have wronged this nation by accommodating the myth of the Reagan/Bush Tax Cut Growth LIE.  It shouldn’t just be allowed to pass. 

 

It is war reparations time Mr. Greenspan, and before you pass from this planet, you should pound the lectern and proclaim the real truth that this tax deserves not just expiration, but a DRASTIC INCREASE.  Gasp away "Re Pug Thug Tea Lycans", your destruction of our country has run its course.  We refuse to die without a fight.  Mr. Greenspan.  Get off the fence.  Apologize!  Act!  Align yourself with Mr. Paul Krugmann perhaps.  Ms. Elizabeth Warren perhaps.

 

Whatever it takes Mr. Greenspan, but the time has come for a RETURN to wise foreign and fiscal policy.  They are really two-sides of the coin.  Accomplishments need to include:

 

1) A Progressive Tax Code based on the proven model of the Eisenhower years.

2) Lock Solid Corporate Crime Codes that are ENFORCED.

3) The shattering of the CRIME FAMILY that is the “Military Industrial Complex/Consulting” revolving door.  

4) A similar shattering of the “Capitol Hill/Consulting” firm revolving door.

5) Multi-Nationals must operate for our country, and if so contracted, are under strict guidelines and the full control of our laws and courts.

 

The list goes on Mr. Alan Greenspan.  Perhaps the Golden Rule will let you play some “catch-up” ball.  We can hope so.  You can hope so.

 

There is a guy on Facebook that finds me irritating. We'll call him Luke.

Luke is not a complicated guy. He is, I imagine, confident in appearance, witty & urbane as well as a joy to have at parties in order to stir the mix. His views, and... strident statements thereof, seem to me, to be borne of past pains. To a large extent all of ours are just that way. Luke will tell you he is just stating the facts, and if you can't handle the facts than you are either stupid or naive. Luke is nothing if not benevolent in declaring these truths FOR you. He is relieving you of the need to embark on a tiresome and fruitless journey to seek a "truth" that is different than Luke's view of truth. What does Luke feel? Luke feels lonely. Luke feels alone. If Luke can convince you that the journey IS fruitless, then you won't embark. Luke won't feel as alone.

All that mumbo jumbo above is saying is that Luke has given up. He rests upon a particular point in two-dimensional space. He adamantly adheres to his position on the two-dimensional compass and insists that the views from there represent the truth. I too am often on a given point in our two-dimensional space and I too feel like it is hopeless, but then I see something that is plainly WRONG. I want to move to a place on the two-dimensional compass where seeing evil, speaking about evil, speaking to evil and acting against evil will bring about meaningful change in people's lives. Changes that aren't temporary fixes, although those are needed, but changes that cause the domino you have have positively toppled to positively topple some other domino long after you have disembarked. Changes that help place you in one of the better seats of not only 3rd-Dimension space, but also 4th and beyond.

I find myself constantly rolling around the edge of the two-dimensional compass seeing things from alternate perspectives, but I feel I have a moral compass that sends out strong (hopefully) signals when it sees evil and it shows me a path not only away, but a path that can illuminate for others as well. Some people have done that for me and I am so indebted to them. Every time I weep (usually surreptitiously) it is not just from regret it is also from the joy that people can bring to others by what amounts to the buttressing of souls. Luke seeks buttressing through baseball, but he needs others to comment on the importance of the next crack of he bat. I need others to tell me that the third, 4th and... dimensions of "existence" matter and that I can help make them better by seeking, learning, cajoling, cursing and doing.

For me, one's views on Rachel Maddow are a bell weather. If, as Luke has stated, Rachel is no different, better or worse, than the hacks at Fox news, then you have lost me. I must minimize potential two-dimension orbital interaction. You are making a purposeful push to adhere ME to YOUR fixed position on the two-dimensional compass. The position that requires scorn or derision for those scouring the haystack for missing hope. I can't do that.

Rachel Maddow is clearly a shining light pointing into the cave and trying to help us find a pathway that leads not only herself through the surrounding despair, but also makes others lift their eyes to see a way forward toward hope and away from misery. She also carries the light that shines back at evil and looks to blind them in their dogged pursuit of holding others back, for their own purposes, in the mire.

FOX is IN the Mire. FOX IS the MIRE. Republicans are in the MIRE. "Tea Partiers" are in the MIRE. They are lonely. The are alone. They scratch and claw to drag more and more of us into the MIRE with them. We must resist and if it is possible, we must drag some FROM the MIRE. But not at the risk of falling back. Too much has been risked to fall back now. Too much has been gained to fall back now.

If Luke & FOX are trapped in the MIRE then shed a tear, but preserve your focus for the light ahead and for those like Rachel Maddow and others that wish to guide us willfully, spiritually and knowledgeably forward.

Elaine, are you more than the average politician? I have a Masters degree in Econ. Guess what? The Reagan, Bush I, Bush II Tax Cuts are a lie. They have decimated this country. IKE was a CONSERVATIVE. GOLDWATER was a CONSERVATIVE (The last). He hated Ronald Reagan because he saw the LIE. He saw the appropriation of the term conservative, but he knew it was a LIE. Don't dare call the them CONSERVATIVES (I wish). They are the evil side of the Class War that Warren Buffet said is being waged and won by his side. You can call them the "right" (quotes demanded).

Will you bring the troops home from within 6 months from -- Germany? Why Not? Japan? Why Not? There are a list of 131 more countries before you even get to IRAQ/Afghanistan. Will you go through that list and start bringing those troops home now? Right NOW? My Uncle was on D-Day. We won that war. The Germans have stood-up, we can stand-down. We are still there for One reason and one reason only. IKE warned us. We ignored him. IKE never lost a ground troop, never gave up an inch of land. He KEPT the peace. He was NOT weak. It is hard to KEEP the peace. We are there because it makes Military Contractors RICH. PERIOD. PERIOD. Will you put an end to that?

If when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, what would we, as a nation have thought if FDR attacked, say SPAIN?

What if 14 Saudis attack us (no Iraqis, No Afghans) & we invade them, not Saudi Arabia?

Would it be hard for a Saudi Terrorist to fly a plane into one of our Nuclear Plants? Could Trillions of dollars been spent:
1) "Manhattan Projecting"/"Space Racing Defense" all of our Nuclear Plants?
2) HARDENING PORT SECURITY (our port security is the same as it was on 9/11 if not weaker) Hell, Bush tried to turn it over to the now economically unstable Dubai - That would have been another insane example of the mantra that "out-sourcing" is good. You can not "out-source" our nation's security. That is a fact Ms. Marshall. Can you fix that? Can you see to it that our Trillions aren't pissed away on Halliburton/Blackwater/Xe, but actually make US safer? Can you?

3) Airport security is a charade. Know one will admit it. Stopping little old ladies with travel shampoos using minimum wage "out-sourced" employees is not security. It is the lie IKE warned about. Can you fix that? The "right" has lied to us. Remember, no CONSERVATIVES have existed in politics since Barry Goldwater died. Goldwater hated Ronald Reagan because he recognized the LIE. He recognized the Tax Cut Lie. He recognized the pandering to the right. He said that you could say "Ronald Reagan spent money like a drunken sailor, but that would be an insult to drunken sailors". That is what a real CONSERVATIVE saw & knew. The Tax cuts were a lie & they created the deficit which is real. Haves / Have Nots.

4) BUSH I - Gave back a centimeter, but when you've taken a yard, that is hard to notice. The "right" didn't care. To them he had "RAISED" their taxes. Not to be forgiven. They burned him at the stake, and we were given Clinton. What to do said the "right". They knew not what. Bill is smarter than Newt. Bill maneuvered Newt into a real Tax increase on those a$$holes that had been robbing this country since Ronald Reagan. They screamed it would kill the economy. They were wrong and/or they were liars. I think most were just liars. They know. They Knew. The didn't care. They don't care. It IS class warfare, and they want their side to CRUSH!

5) Clinton having maneuvered, what the "right" is forced to refer to as their "intellectual", (Newt), proceeds to bring about a phenomenal economic recovery. No one could have thought it possible. Getting rid of deficit spending? Impossible. Paying down the National Debt? Impossible. In fact, the "right" didn't want these "good" things to happen to the country, because it isn't about the country, it is about the Class War, and now they were losing. BIG TIME. What to do? Monica Lewinsky (magical fairy dust sound). At this point Newt was getting his MEMBER served as well, so he had to fall silent. Step up Ken Starr & let the pillaging begin. But it didn't matter to the economy. Largest surpluses ever. As far as the eye could see.

5b) Clinton appendix - The only devil in the Clinton situation was in some little tiny details. Clinton had let a guy named Richard Rubin start to draw up the new rules for WALL STREET, and as time played out that was going to be bad. REALLY BAD. We could also talk NAFTA here, but you get my point, Clinton is not walking on water, but he is a damn good swimmer. (How are we doing Ms. Marshall? Are you taking note(s)? You have to read it back ward, but the story is here. Do you get it?)

Meanwhile Clinton has done some really good work on the anti-terrorist front. He has arrested and prosecuted the 1st WTC bomber. In civilian Courts. In NYC. No one complained then. He wasn't BLACK. He had even put a dossier together on a guy named Bin Laden. He knew that Bin Laden was mad at us because Bush I left him at the proverbial alter in Afghanistan in his victory over the Russians, and he knew Bin Laden was scheming an actual plot to fly PLANES INTO BUILDINGS. He turned the giant surpluses, Peace, & detailed intelligence dossier over to...

6) Well, because we have an ACTIVIST 'RIGHT" COURT, W. W was granted the Presidency in a bloodless coup d'etat. As a result, W, one of the dumbest, most intellectually lazy, cocky, loser jackasses, that ever walked this earth "takes" the reins. But he doesn't want them. He doesn't care. Winning and being a nickname doling out smart-ass is all he cares about. Read? He doesn't do that. Make it a few paragraphs long, and you tell me what I think is the modus operandi.
Cheney now has what he had planned for. Condaleeza can take that dossier that warns about Bin Laden, and at best scoff at it. They don't care. This isn't about the country. This is about class warfare, and they had just kicked some ass.
Then, a momentary blip in confidence. 9/11. The President is frozen in time with Andy Card imploring him to LOOK PRESIDENTIAL. It takes a couple of days in the bunker with CHENEY, RUMSFELD, WOLFOWITZ, FEITH, and the plan is set. The die is cast. Their "permanent" victory is assured.

7) The plan: the mythical "War on Terror". You can get anything you want with a "War on Terror" ANYTHING. And they didn't want Safe Nuke Plants. They didn't want Safe Ports. They didn't even really want Safe Airports. They wanted "reasons" to engage in fake conflicts with fake names like "War on Terror". There is no such thing Ms. Marshall. You can't wage war on a tactic. So our "team", with a frightened nation and lying pols like Rudy & W holding bullhorns, sent our kids off to die in Spain, I'm sorry, I mean Iraq & Afghanistan. 14 Saudi's and we chase 1 guy because he might be in the Afghan Mountains and then we conflate that into our real goal for monetary flow control, an invasion of IRAQ. Side benefit for W, who is barely paying attention, he gets to show daddy that his is bigger.

7b) Now the money starts to flow unimpeded to our out-sourced "defense network". The one that IKE said would be our downfall. They go by many names. Halliburton/Blackwater/Xe & others we haven't heard. But they reside under the control of no country. They leech this country's wealth. They drive the sword farther into what will soon be the corpse of the American middle class. They twist it & they call it PATRIOTISM. (Vomit) May God have mercy on your soul(?) Mr. Cheney.
Who will say enough? Who will bring troops home from Germany?...... Who will say with courage that a National Budget that is sucked dry to the tune of over 43% labeled as non-discretionary Defense spending is MORALLY & FISCALLY WRONG. It is anti-CONSERVATIVE. Will you say that Ms. Marshall? Or are you just looking for a job?

8) Ms. Marshall. I, and a small group of smart 6th graders, could sit in a room for an afternoon and solve this country's budgetary woes and embark us on a real course to National Security & Energy Freedom. I'm not joking. Do you want that to happen, or are you just running for a job? Because working at the margins is too late. As I mentioned, the American middle Class is almost a corpse. Wall Street is an internalized version of Halliburton/Blackwater/Xe. They have a new toy to turn into a Middle -Class killing machine during the 2000s. Generically we can just agree to call it the Derivatives Market. It is evil. That Rubin guy under Clinton, he started this evil, along with his doltish yet professorial co-conspirator Alan Greenspan. While Cheney, et al crushed from one side, these fellas were crushing from the other. All the while the head of Goldman Sacks could call it the "Lord's Work". Are you going to stop that Ms. Marshall, or are you just applying for a job?

9) As I see it from here, the only one with any moral compass on the Hill/WH is Elizabeth Warren. Would you support an army of Ms. Warrens to take this COUNTRY TO WHERE IT BELONGS? Or are you just applying for a job?
We take Shirley Sherrod & we let FOX dictate her firing. We take Van Jones & we let FOX dictate his firing. We let ACORN, who within minutes of those Tea Party scam artists leaving their building, were on the phone to report them to the police and we let FOX dictate their dismantling.

10) We let BP attack our country. They publicly agree to escrow 20 Billion, which they have not done so far, they get to write it off as a Tax loss and Today they say they can start ramping DOWN the clean-up. Would you let that behavior stand or would you pour resources into arresting someone who might be smoking a joint around the corner from the Ingle's grocery store? (Same Priority?) [I ask because Eric Holder has tripled Pot Related prosecutions.] Would Tony Hayward be in prison right now, or just Lindsay Lohan?
It looks as if BP helped engineer the release of the Lockerbie bomber terrorist (270 dead) to secure an oil lease. The British PM says it is up to BP to divulge any info they may have about that (Barak stands by quietly as this atrocity escapes the British PM's lips) Is that okay with you Ms. Marshall, or are you just applying for a job?

10b) If police suspected Jeffrey Dahmer of killing mutilating and eating his victims would you be okay with an approach that had the police say to Jeffrey: We smell those funny smells, but we are going to let you put a report together and get back to us with any information you may have about these missing people. Would that be appropriate police behavior Ms. Marshall, or would you expect something a tad more proactive? To me it sounds like the British PM's approach to BP (with a quiet Barak standing near by). Would these things be okay with you Ms. Marshall, or are you just applying for a job?

11) Your picture shows a smiling nice lady. I want IKE & FDR. I want a hero. Barak was supposed to be my hero. That has not worked out. 12) FDR, That's a Hero for MY SIDE of the CLASS STRUGGLE. The side that has been getting its ass kicked for 31 straight years now. I want that kind of hero again:

If you are going to DO THIS kind of stuff, HIRE ME I'll help. If you are just applying for a job, well, God save us - you are better than Mr. Burr so you will have my vote.
